My Newest Cake Creation!!!!!

This past weekend was my niece's birthday she turned twelve. I do not know where the time went it seems like yesterday she was setting in my lap on my lunch break picking green beans out of my vegetable soup. For her birthday she asked me to make her a cake. She gave me a guilt trip, because I have not actually made her a cake in the past 4 years. She even had it all picked out when she called me. So Friday I spent all night baking, and decorating. I love baking and creating I honestly wish I had more time. When she called me she said she wanted a black, and gold cake. I tried to talk her out of black, because it usually taste bad. No matter what I said she was dead set on those colors. I had never done gold, and absolutely have never done a full tier in black icing. Thanks to my wonderful friend she made a quick trip to the cake store on her way home, and picked me up everything I need to do the gold tier. I used white butter cream icing on the top tier and I used can gold mist eatable paint to color the top tier gold. I used one can of the mist to color. I would spray and then let it set in the fridge to dry. I repeated this step at least ten times. Then I used the second can to wet the outside of the icing in order for the gold sugar crystals to stick. I covered the entire tier with the sugar crystals. I also learned a new trick for black icing. If you use chocolate icing and color it with black gel coloring. The chocolate holds the black a lot better than the white butter cream, and it does not take the large amount of black coloring that causes it to taste bad. Of course she wanted to cake inside to be pink. Here is the final product......

Pizza or Cake? How about Pizza Cake?

As you all read in my last post that I have a love for baking and cooking all together. I am always scanning Facebook, Pintrest, or Youtube trying to find something new and fun to try. Well last week when I was looking for Crock Pot freezer dinners (that is coming soon) I ran across the Pizza Cake. My all time favorite food is pizza. I could never get tired of pizza. I watched several of the video's of others trying it and I decided to try it myself. I also ran across some other stuff I would like to try, but that for the future. Basically a Pizza cake is pizza cooked in a cake pan. I made two different flavors. The first one was a basic pepperoni and cheese this one ended up with a total of 6 layers, and I made a beef, black olive, pine apple, pepperoni, and cheese with 4 layers. It was a hit with the kids, and even the adults. It did take a long time, because you have to partially cook each layer of crust. I do not think this is going to become a week night dinner idea, but I do think it would be awesome for special occasions. It could also work for those that do not like cake. I have a couple of those in my family. So instead of cooking dinner, and a cake they wont eat. I will just make them their favorite kind of pizza cake. I love to cook! It is like an art to make something that not only looks beautiful, but tastes wonderful as well. I honestly think that is the best kind of art. I put my heart an soul into what I cook. My heart is so happy when I watch people eat what I have made, and enjoy it. I try when I have time to make cakes for all my kiddos. I have two birthday's coming up this month. I unfortunately will only have time to make one cake this month, but I think that will be okay. I try to spread my love. I also like to learn new things. I watch the Food Network all the time the only downfall to that is that it makes me hungry. I just enjoy seeing other people happy. Whether it is by seeing their expression when they see what I have created for them or watching them eat what I have made. Either way I am happy! Maybe I will have time to come back and post my next creation!

My First Student Teacher Observation 2015

I wish I could start teaching today! I am actually jealous of the teachers that I observed today. In my Intro to Education course at Pulaski Tech we are required to observe a class room for a total of 5 hours. We have to observe an elementary, middle, high school, and a students choice. I actually started with middle school. I graduated from Harmony Grove High School in Benton, AR. So I thought it would be cool to start there. I observed a total of 9 teachers ranging from 5th grade to 7th grade. I actually observed a teacher that taught me in the 4th grade when I was in elementary. She now teachers Math to 6th graders. My music teacher is now the Principal of the middle school. I loved every minute of it.
